BASIC SUPPLIES FOR MACHINE/HAND APPLIQUE
Sewing machine - if you have a knee lift this would help. - Not a problem if
your machine does not have one.
Colored thread for top & light gray or off white for bobbin. Please make
sure your bobbin is full as we will be “playing” with different techniques.
Open toe foot for machine - or toe that you can see the full width of sewing
field.
Thread snips or scissors.
Size 11 sewing machine needle & twin needle - I will bring some twin
needles if you don’t have one. There are several different sizes of twin
needles & we will play with some of them to let you see what effect they
can have on your appliqué.
I have some kits that we will work thru with different stabilizers, pencils,
markers etc.
NEELDE TURN SUPPLIES
Size 10 or 11 appliqué needle or quilting sharp or needle of choice.
I will
bring some straw needles so as you can try them out.
Thread size 50 or 60 (not embroidery floss)
Sharp point scissors. Thimble.
I will bring some kits for you to use to see different styles of appliqué
&
how to pin your design without getting your thread stuck around the pins.
(This can cause one to pull your hair out & use words fit for a sailor!!!)
Also there are some really neat ways to stabilize your design & we will
touch on that.
These two classes are hands on & a lot of fun . And I hope you will enjoy
seeing different styles/ways of doing appliqué. We will do stems &
leaves
with fusible thread making is easier to sew these pesky curves.
